Broken

by A Paper Muse

/

about

We have all experienced these moments, where it feels like what has been broken can never heal.

lyrics

Frozen in a moment, transfixed in mid-fall
Fingers slipped, lost our grip, clumsy in a sprawl
Just before the heartbreak, dice already thrown
Too late to change, it’s out of range, chances all been blown

Chorus
Some things can’t be fixed.
They’re not that kind of broken.
They can’t be glued together
Look like they did before.

I wish we were ceramic, that I possessed the glue
Kintsugi works, the gold’s a perk, it makes the bowl anew
But that’s no good for people, we don’t break in neat parts
The waves of pain, they still remain, Glue can’t uncrush a heart

Chorus

Bridge:
Love is just too fragile, keep it safe at any cost
If you stumble and you drop it, it shatters and it’s lost
Like a finely crafted chalice or a goblet silver glazed
Hold it like a treasure if you wish to be unscathed

Love don’t live in femurs, or marrow of the bones
It doesn’t knit when broke or split, xrays can’t be shown
A cast can’t hold together, compressing fractured souls
There is no pill to ever fill this kind of empty hole

Chorus
